History - Iadra was the first born child and daughter of her parents, who happen to be minor holders beholden to High Reaches Hold. Contrary to her parents' wishes and upbringing, Iadra was very much a tomboy, when they expected her to be a proper Lady and marry well. It did not matter to them that they had two other daughters, and three sons, they expected all of their children to do as bid.
Luckily for Iadra, dragons from High Reaches Weyr came on Search and discovered that she would make an excellent Candidate. However, her parents were against her going to the Weyr. Unknown to them, Iadra had made arrangements with the rider to come back for her in a couple of days.
After she made good her escape, Iadra made her case known to the Weyrleaders of High Reaches Weyr, and they transferred her to Star Stone Weyr to be one of their Candidates. When her parents arrived a week later in search of their daughter, Iadra was long gone.
Iadra is one of the few dragonriders that is unable to pull station duty, since she gets space sick.
